Valentine Project - Part 1
Step 1:
Start with 2 pieces of the same size - 12 x 18 - fun foam (I used creatology brand from Michael's). Draw a giant heart on one piece, cut it out, then lay it over the top of the other piece. Trace and cut out so you have two identical hearts.
Step 2:
Next, use a hole punch to punch holes all the way around the sides and bottom of one heart (but not across the top). Then lay the heart with the holes already punched on top of the other. Punch through existing holes to make holes in the same spot on the heart underneath.
Step 3:
Using approximately 3 yards of ribbon, begin weaving through bottom hole first, leaving about an 8 inch tail coming out the bottom. Weave around until you reach the top hole, then leave about 12-14 inches (or more, whatever length you desire for hanging) up at the top, then continue threading through holes on the other side until you meet the bottom hole where you started. Now tie ribbon in a knot or bow at the bottom to complete.
Step 3:
Let kids decorate before or after hanging. I used the same knobs I use for Christmas stockings to hang the "heart pockets" to catch their goodies on the big day.
Step 4:
Voila! Project is complete. This project keeps little hands very busy and gets them excited for what these catch-alls will be filled with soon! Stay tuned for the next post where I will share free printables and healthy snacks to fill them with instead of candy.
