Christmas Crayons

An Upcycled Craft Project

Picture

Directions

Begin with holiday colored crayons - red & green shades, yellow and gold hues, white or even icy blues.  It all depends on the shape of cookie cutter you are using and what color you would like it to be.  Be sure and use only metal cookie cutters for this project.

Preheat oven to 170 degress.  Peel off all crayon labels and chop crayons into small pieces, about the size of a pea.  Place a sheet of parchment or baking paper onto a cookie sheet.  Set cookie cutter shapes on top of parchment.  Sprinkle chopped crayons pieces into metal cookie cutter shapes.

Bake approx. 15 minutes or until wax is melted.  You can begin checking progress at around 10 minutes since each oven is different.

When wax is melted, remove cookie sheet from oven and let wax cool and set slightly.  At this point you can place the parchment onto a freezer safe tray and place shapes in freezer for quick cooling.  After 15 minutes, remove from freezer and remove excess wax from around outer edge of each cookie cutter.

Pop shapes out of cookie cutters and they're ready for immediate use or save as a stocking stuffer!
