Robin Williams: Bipolar, Depression, Nutritional Healing, & Med-Free Bipolar Book Giveaway

8/18/2014

One week ago, the world heard the news of Robin Williams’ passing.  Since then, many conversations have begun - aimed at removing stigmas associated with illnesses such as depression and bipolar.  These conversations are long overdue, prompted by the loss of a man who felt like a dear and familiar friend.
Picture
BUT... Of all the articles I’ve read lately discussing depression and bipolar, one very KEY item has been missing .

That key is the nutritive approach to healing mental afflictions.

Picture
Depression and bipolar (even cases of severe mental illness) have been treated successfully with the nutritive approach. Nutrition is still a very little known method for approaching and treating such disorders, yet the evidence and case studies are mounting by the day (See resources at the end of this article).  It is my hope that healing through nutrition will quickly be accepted by our culture, because the statistics on depression and suicide are staggering.

Consider the following from the Huffington Post:

  • By 2030, depression will outpace cancer, stroke, war and accidents as the world's leading cause of disability and death, according to the World Health Organization.

  • Each year, 34,000 people commit suicide, about twice as many deaths as caused by homicide -- about one death per 15 minutes.

  • Fully 90 percent of those who take their own lives struggle with an underlying mental health issue.

It doesn’t have to be this way!

I suspect that there will come a time in the not too distant future, when we will all look back and say, “Of course bipolar can be eradicated with nutrients.  Who doesn’t know that!?!?”  Just as Rickets and Scurvy were successfully treated with Vitamin D and Vitamin C respectively, mental health afflictions have their foundational remedy in nutrition as well.

We also learned this past week (in a statement released by Williams’ wife) that besides depression, Mr. Williams had been suffering from the early stages of Parkinson’s.  This further compounds the evidence that essential nutritional elements were missing as cases of Parkinson’s are also being rehabilitated with the nutritive approach.  Again, this is not mainstream knowledge yet (not by a long shot), but the conversation has begun.  A handful of leading edge doctors and individuals are confirming the incredible degree to which micronutrients can heal - over 900 afflictions to date have been successfully treated with optimum micronutrient intake.

Because I want to get Nutritional Healing information into the hands of as many people as possible, NGD is sponsoring a BIG book giveaway.  I am arranging for 10 paperback copies (minimum) of Med-Free Bipolar by Aspen Morrow*, to be delivered into the hands of selected NGD subscribers who comment on this information. Med-Free Bipolar shot up to the #2 book out of 7000 on the topic following Williams’ death, and #1 in Amazon’s rankings for alternative treatments for mood disorders.

This book was written by a woman who has survived the ravages of bipolar and has thrived through nutritional treatments to share the  journey - and the healing protocol- with others.

Please, if you know of anyone suffering from similar afflictions, educate yourself!  Pass the information on to their loved ones.  Sometimes a depressed brain cannot help itself, even with the right information.  Once the brain and spirit is “broken”, it needs all the support it can get to begin functioning optimally again.  This support usually comes from friends and loved ones, education, and appropriate treatment.

If you are interested in spreading awareness or would like to learn more about the nutritive approach to optimal mental health, please leave a comment below, indicating that you would like a paperback copy of Aspen Morrow’s book, Med-Free Bipolar.  Alternatively, feel free to post your thoughts and feelings about Robin Williams’ passing, or share thoughts to honor and remember someone you’ve known who has suffered from any sort of mental affliction.

The world can’t afford to lose another beautiful soul to this illness.

Let’s learn from this!

And...  If you find the information presented here helpful, please share it!

In loving remembrance of those we have lost, and in hope to help those who remain afflicted  to reclaim their health,

Robbie williams death was a true sign that some people who make others laugh are deeply sad/depressed. I suffered from post natal depression and its a very hopeless lonely place to be.

As a sufferer of the disease myself, I understand the great conflict many go through each minute of each hour of each day. It's something so very difficult to control and we me to raise awareness that this isn't something to ignore. This is something bigger than one person. It's something we need help with.

So sad the man had everything but peace of mind I don't have that ether but would never put my family though that I know a few people that could use this but they don't think they have a problem I know some people that this would help but getting then to listen is the hard part I know someone that can go from 0 th 60 in 10 seconds very sad that they won't listen to me and it's only because I care for them but if they don't want help what can I do. I've had a few friends that killed them selfs to I did not know it was that bad or I( would have tried to talk with them to help I could tell them my problems and see your live could be worst off guy's that had loving wife's good kids how could you do that to them we all go though tough times in life it's why were here to over come them. Mental illness runs in my family so I know a lot about it, it makes no scene to me times always get better again. I just wish I could have talked to him and let him know he's not alone and it would get better one day.I hate to say this but take it one day at a time and there is alway somebody worse off then you.m :'( R.I.P. Robin . One of his best stand up act was Robin Williams live at the Met from the 80's try to see it very funny but not for kids ok ;-)

You hit the nail on the head Jeff, when you said, "Mental illness makes no sense to me"... because it doesn't make sense to a healthy brain. Bipolar is a sign of a brain that is not healthy, and it goes beyond trying to make any logic sense of, or saying well-meaning things like "it could be worse" or "be positive", etc... The "broken" brain can't get there on it's own, when key nutritional support is missing. It would be like saying to someone with rickets- "just think positive" when there is proven defective mineralization in the bones - the bones literally cannot do what they need to do to be healthy no matter how much others wish they would on behalf of the person suffering from the affliction. Does that make sense? Your compassion is great to care so much and wish others could overcome the afflictions by "out-thinking" them ... I wish it were that simple too at times. But one side effect of appropriate nutritive intake and mineralization is - it gets easier to think positive thoughts. So maybe some day, those who suffer these afflictions can get there!

This was a great blog post and watching my brother suffer from bipolar himself, I have stressed all along that it can be managed with diet and this article along with many others I have read validate my belief. I can't wait to read her book and share with others, especially my brother. I would be honored to receive a FREE copy. As a former teacher in the public schools and currently teaching preschool, I am a firm believer that children do well with the right nutrition. I am an advocate for helping children and families eating healthier options and if we start early we may be able to prevent people from having to take meds . Thanks for a wonderful blog and for helping families understand more about this disease. God Bless you!

My 21 year old daughter has been battling depression and bipolar disorder since she was a child (first suicidal at age 8.) She is sadly in the hospital right now on this Christmas Eve due to extreme suicidal depression. She has tried too many medications and combinations to count but still has not been stable for the past 3 years. We need other solutions and I would very much like to receive a copy of this book.
